Josep Sala

Spanish, 1896—1962

Spanish artist Josep Sala is part of the New Objectivity and Neues Sehen movements. During the Spanish Civil War, Josep Sala produced propaganda material for The Generalitat de Catalunya, or the Government of Catalonia.

Much of his photographic work has been lost and in many cases only references to his work remain in the magazines he collaborated with. The National Art Museum of Catalonia currently holds the largest archive of the artist’s work.
